“If you want to see things just as they are, then you yourself must practice just as you are”   ~Dogen

Lynn and I have now opened our Zen center here in Waynesville, North Carolina. We have a small quiet place to practice zazen.  Anyone can practice zazen - sitting on a cushion in a cross-legged position and facing the wall.  That is what we do here.  If you are interested, we invite you to join us at the times shown on the schedule page of this website.

Zen is not for most people so I would like to give you a little flavor of what is going on here to help you decide if this may be for you.

I have written the following  introductory papers about what we teach here. I encourage you to read them all.

If you decide to come and practice with us, be sure to arrive 15 minutes before the service begins, remove your shoes and place them on the rack at the door, and enter quietly.  Guiding instructions will be given.  The service lasts about an hour in total and tea and talk will follow the service.
